![]() Once you reach a certain level of affection you can starting dating a marriage candidate. You can also invite them to explore with you and help you fight as well. In terms of socializing, there are different events that can occur with the townsfolk as well as festivals like HM/SOS. ![]() This isn't terribly hard as the game lets you set the difficulty. You'll start out with most of them, and unlock several more as you progress through the early plot. There's 12 choices total, 6 male and 6 female. The socializing/marriage aspect of the game is good. There is nothing that needs to be completed by a certain date, so you can take your time and focus on what you want to. Some of the earlier games can be a bit rough in that regard. 4 is a great place to start because it's at the point when the series started to refine the mechanics and streamline things. But the gameplay remains solid nonetheless. The Switch version updated some stuff like the sprites, UI, etc., but some of the background upscaling does look rough, especially on a 4K screen. The reason that 4 looks rough is that it's not only over 7 years old, but it also initially released on the 3ds. The Rune Factory series shares quite a lot with the HM/SOS games, but the combat and crafting mechanics do make it feel very different. ![]() I'd say that getting 4 would be a great way to see if you like the series before 5 comes out. ![]()
